Senate Bill Endangers Gun Owners

On 26 March 2001, Senate Bill S. 601, authored by the (not so) Honorable Senator Mr. Robert Torricelli (D-NJ) was introduced and titled the "Gun Parts Trafficking Act of 2001".

This bill, as you may guess is pretty severe in it's implications. We strongly urge all readers to call and write their Senators and Congressmen to get this thing killed as quickly as possible.

Among other things, this bill will "ban shipping or transportation of firearms parts" including "any parts or combination of parts that when assembled on a frame or receiver would constitute a firearm as defined in this paragraph".

When reading the bill, it is easy to read in that technically, it would be illegal for the common citizen to reassemble his own legally owned firearm once disassembled for cleaning!
