AB23 in CA is still alive Rumors have been flying all over the state about the status of AB 23, the bill that would ban semi-autos based on generic features. First it's dead, then it's alive, then it's dead again. To clear up any misconceptions, AB 23 it is still alive and kicking. As of today there is still no confirmation on when AB 23 by Assemblyman Perata will be heard on the Assembly Floor. The good news is that Assemblymen Floyd and Vincent are standing their ground and will not be voting in support of the bill as it currently reads. However, the bad news is that Perata's office is trying to negotiate with Governor Wilson's office on what needs to be changed so he can sign the bill. This is exactly what we don't need. AB 23 is a bad bill and that's all there is to it. In an effort to stop the negotiations we need your help! Please call the Governor's office and ask him to "hang tough" and not give in to Assemblyman Perata. Gun-Shy to Target Shooter Got this from my favorite visitor. If only every reporter would research before they spout off. Great story Mr. B! |
New for '98 Olympic Arms is proud to announce that our receivers will now come with a mil-spec hard anodizing! We may see some short delays in delivery as our coater also does work for Boeing, and they come first. MSRP on our stripped lowers is $99 - the lowest from any manufacturer! Also new is our OA-93TG. Hunter Ed. Budget Cuts With the recent shortfall in the WA Dep't Fish and Wildlife's budget, and the resultant "fix" proposed by the Locke-appointed commission, Governor Locke's anti-hunting agenda is in full swing. The Hunter Education program, supposedly funded by Pittman-Robertson funds from the Federal Government, has essentially been given the axe. Money supposed to be GUARANTEED for use in the Hunter Education program under P-R are being rechanneled, and the program GUTTED. Through some legal convolutions known only to liberal anti-hunters/anti-gunners, this is apparently permitted, as the funds are to be channeled to 'habitat enhancement'. (Incidentally, P-R is also supposed to fund RANGE development & enhancement too....!) How typical: this program, taught primarily by unpaid volunteers throughout the state, (some 700 strong) with NO FINANCIAL INTEREST OR REMUNERATION, is the one DoFW program that is demonstrably working well. Our percentage of firearms-related hunting accidents in Washington state has dropped to virtually nil, and the program has, to my knowledge, not wasted a dime in 6 years. So, of course, Locke's liberals decide it is the ideal program to cut.
