Moving in!
Construction Updates
(New Photos 26 April 2001)
We are all but ready to move in!. Since our fire on June 7th, 2000 that completely destroyed the old building, we have been in temporary office space pending the completion of this facility. We look forward to moving in sometime in April or May.

To allow you to follow, and us to document the construction process, we are adding a page to our site. Click the picture above or HERE to go to the CONSTRUCTION page.

Hope you enjoy the updates.

Offices successfully moved!

Sales and administrative offices have been moved into the new Olympic Arms headquartes building. Eventually, this new building will house all of the shipping and assembly areas as well consolidating all areas of the opperation exceot production itself under one roof.

Some periodic computer glitches are still occuring, so please be aptient as we continue to finish the final touches of this move.

Smith & Wesson SOLD!

Announced just this week, the venerable S&W has been sold. The buyer, the US based Scottsdale, Arizona Saf-T -Hammer company, is a firearm safety equipment manufacturer. The Smith & Wesson corporation was purchased from Britain's Tomkins PLC for measly $15 million (U.S.)!

We all know of the S&W sell out to the government, and their decline in sales that ultimately lead to their sale. Whether or not the aggreement penned by S&W with the US Governemnt now holds any water is yet to be answered.

Mitchell Saltz, the SA-T-Hammer company chairman stated, "We are proud to return this storied company to American ownership . . . we plan to increase the company's revenue through expanded branding activities and strategic acquisitions that will compliment the company's current product lines." Nothing was mentioned of the deal with the Feds.

S&W enemic display at this years SHOT Show in New Orleans, LA, was indicative of the S&W decline. The company had more "accessorie" products, and new product lines like knives, a line of Police bicycles and equipment on display than they did firearmns.

Should the new S&W ownershiop re-neg on the current deal with the federal government, we wish them the best. Should they seek to keep the deal in place, we hope that they soon have to re-sell the company....in the 1-2 million dollar range!

NEW ORLEANS LAWSUIT SHOT DOWN FOR FINAL TIME

Speaking of the rather poor 2001 SHOT Sow recently held in New Orleans, LA, the Mayor of that towns politically motivated lawsuit was SHOT (great pun, huh?) by the Supreme Court of Louisiana, in a 5-2 majority ruling Friday April 27. The ruling denied the plaintiffs' request for a re-hearing of the case which the court had previously dismissed. Mayor Marc Morial's 1998 lawsuit was the first of its kind against the firearms industry; it now becomes the first to be completely dismissed!

Keep up the good work. The constitutuion is still alive, just on life support.

Recent Oly Arms Testimonial

[quote] Tom and staff at Olympic Arms,

So many times we as consumers find the time to complain about something that rubs us wrong. Occasionally we (consumers) should also find the time to offer thanks when deserved.

At 2000 SOF World 3 Gun Championships I was fortunate enough to place 13th overall and win a rifle stage (iron sights). The SOF match is in my opinion the premier 3 Gun match in the USA. It has filled to capacity year after year ( 236 competitors in 2000) and places a premium on reliable accurate equipment.

This may be of note to you as I used an Olyarms 20" PCR upper in the match. I purchased this upper used at the 1999 SOF match. The only problems I had were self induced.

Thank you for meeting the challenge.

Patrick E. Kelley [end quote]

Glad to hear of the good new Patrick! Congratulations, and thanks from all of the staff here at Olympic Arms.
