Columbine Revisited

I received an e-mail today that I feel must be reprinted here. I strongly suggest that you read it, and then read it again. This is the best article I have read in a very long time, and I feel it is a much better reflection of who we truly are than what Clinton and his ilk would lead us to believe.

Rosie O'Donnell & K-Mart - still

After Rosie's rant with Tom Selleck, K-Mart received hundreds of calls from angry viewers. Despite the calls, K-Mart said it has no plans to fire O'Donnell as celebrity spokeswoman. "We've discussed the issue with her and we know her stance," a spokesman for K-Mart said. "We believe in safe and responsible sales and she has a right to express her opinion." O'Donnell sees no contradiction in representing the Troy, Mich.,-based chain because "she understands about hunting; she's very strong for gun locks. But she's also about 'Do we need Uzis to go hunting?'" O'Donnell spokeswoman Lois Smith said. Unfortunately, that is NOT the same line she has been spewing on her show. She has said many times that only the police and military should own guns, and that anyone else who is caught with a firearm should go straight to jail. Period. How that is not a contradiction is beyond me.

Now, the nice thing is that we can fight her two ways.

#1 - She, along with AcmeCity, is offering 20MB of free webspace to anyone who abides by AcmeCity's terms of use - basically no smut or commercial sites. Check ours out, and then make one of your own! Tell her and the rest of the world what you think of her. You can also find links to other Rosie/RKBA pages here.

#2 - She is still a "spokes-thing" for K-Mart; a company that makes a part of its profit from firearms sales. They claim that they defend O'Donnell's freedom of speech, but that wasn't the story when they fired Fuzzy Zoeller the golfer for making a joke. And as stated above, Rosie's spin Dr's say she is not against gun ownweship, but it's an outright lie. Be sure to state these facts when you make your complaint. Dial 1-800-635-6278 then press "2" to talk to a customer service rep. You can also contact K-Mart via the Internet by going here, then using the "Comment" option. Let them know that Rosie O'Donnell is STILL making anti-gun demands on her show. Tell them straight out that you'll shop elsewhere until they fire her.

Dick Armey Slams Spike Lee

House Republican Leader Dick Armey of Texas blasted filmmaker Spike Lee for his "totally outrageous" comment that Charlton Heston should be shot. "Charlton Heston does not deserve that kind of a cheap shot from this second-rate movie producer," he said. "It seems Spike Lee is obviously more stupid than you can be by accident. He doesn't have a bit of an idea of what he's talking about. His comment on the president of the NRA was totally outrageous." Armey, in a statement Wednesday, demanded Lee "apologize immediately" to Heston and the NRA, and called on "liberal elites" to condemn Lee's "embrace of violence."

"Spike Lee must know that many youth look to him as a role model," Armey said. "I hope no child in America takes his comments as an encouragement to use violence to settle disagreements."

Lee, asked what he would do to combat violence in the United States, was quoted in Saturday's New York Post as saying the NRA should be disbanded and Heston should be shot "with a .44-caliber Bulldog" pistol.

With Friends Like These...

Sometimes it hard to tell the friends from the enemies. It starts with a good idea, and an almost amusing theme, but the Parents Committee to Childproof Guns In America just doesn't quite get it. Yes, limiting access to firearms from not only young ones but bad guys and anti's is definitely worth everyone's time, but supporting the suits against firearms manufacturers, promoting "smart gun" technology that doesn't work, and generally making guns unaccessible when they may be needed most - is a life or death situation - is not going to solve any problems. You can check out their site here. Stop by and let them know that they have the right general idea in preventing violent gun use by children, but the wrong method of achieving their goal. Maybe with a little friendly support and knowledge, we can help them to "see the light".

Do You Have An Illegal Gun?

Then take it apart! As much as we do not agree with the majority of the laws concerning AR-style firearms, we also do not condone the flagrant breaking of those laws. If you have an illegal firearm in your possession, and know it is an illegal firearm, take it apart and do not reassemble it! And please do not call us and ask us to help you fix it if it is broken. The best you are doing by committing these acts is giving legitimate law-abiding gun owners a bad name, and the worst is that you will end up in the pokey while the media rips us all apart!

NJ County Sues Gun Makers

Camden County, NJ takes on the gun industry. County officials have filed a federal suit claiming that gun manufacturers produce weapons they know will be sold illegally. [The only proper response to this is: What?!?] The suit is the first of its kind in New Jersey, although two cities are thinking of filing similar ones. Officials say that many of the weapons used in crimes in Camden were bought by straw purchasers in states with liberal gun laws.

OK - So guns were bought illegally elsewhere, and these people trafficked them across state lines to sell to persons known to them to be unable to legally purchase guns. And this is the manufacturers fault? Does this make sense to someone? Sure as hell not me!

Gun Maker Moving To Sturgis

Galena Industries (also known as AMT), a California based manufacturer of stainless steel firearms, has announced plans to relocate to Sturgis. The company is expected to hire 20 new workers. A ten-thousand-square-foot facility will be built to house the new company.
