(rifle shown with optional F8 aluminum free floating handguard)
Another first for Olympic Arms. This model, the new for 2003 PCR-30, is the first AR product to be manufactured in 30 Carbine caliber. The PCR-30, but usig a unique magazine well block adapter, utilizes standard, unmodified M1 carbine magazines. With the inexpensive cost of both quality and reliable high capacity magazines (20, 30 and yes even 40 round magazines), and 30 Carbine amunition, this little carbine will pack quite punch for just a minimal investment.

MSRP: $899.00 complete carbine
$654.00 conversion upper only

This carbine works with standard M1 Carbine magazines, by using a unique mag catch system developed by out in-house engineering department and R&D folks. The way we make it work is by using a magazine well block insert that is lowered into the magazine well from the top of the lower receiver unit. The mag block insert has lips that over-hang the lower that keep it from falling through, and the modified upper receiver holds the mag blocks in place, along with a modified magazine catch (more on that later). Here is a look at the side of a PCR-30 carbine, rifles closed, mag blocks installed and magazine inserted ready to go shooting.

Notice you can see the lips of the magazine well block adapters extendin out over the top pf the lower receiver. In order that this can be achieved, the upper receiver must be releived in a milling process to allow room for the mag block inserts. Also, a third yellow arrow points to the modified magazine catch.
Here is a shot of the inside of the PCR-30 mag well (shown in the white for clarity). In the rear of the mag well you can see the custom magazine catch that has been installed in this standard mil-spec quality lower .223/5.56 lower.
This system is easily installed at home with nothing more than the proper sized allan wrench. Once you have installed the PCR-30 magazine catch system, you do not have to remove it to switch back to any of the other calibers offered by Olympic Arms for your PCR/AR type rifles and carbines. Simply remove the locking screw (allan screw shown above) from the magazine catch, remove the mag block inserts, and you are back to a standard mil-spec lower.
Here is a picture of the lower assembly with an M1 Carbine magazine inserted and locked into the lower. Just push the mag catch button, and the M1 Carbione mags fall right out in your hands.
