Unlike some other years, the year 2000 did not produce any single firearms or item that totally stole the show. Instead for the most part what was seen was a gathering of industry powerhouses, perennial top niche manufacturers as well as many more up-and-comers gathered together for 4 days of happily meeting and greeting the people we love the most, our dealers and customers.
What seemed most surprising to me was that the attitude of the vendors at the show was very up beat. With the exception of every California firearms dealer on the planet wanting to know, "What are you guys going to do for California?", there was little or no political discussion. The focus seemed to be on riding the wave of prosperity that we have been blessed with for the last 18 months, and hoping that it continues. Things were so busy that I did not get the chance to wonder around outside the booth until Thursday morning. In most cases, the people that I wanted most to visit, old friends that you see once a year, and the managers of your biggest distributors, were usually all too bust to meet with you. This is a very good sign.
All in all, I'm going to have to reiterate the statement I have been making for over a year now; things will not slow down until after the elections. It will be another very good year.
