Big Game Hunting

Big Game Huntinggs_both.25

Olympic Arms has lead the way in the AR15 industry with regards to producing more calibers and configuration than most of the other brand names combined. While the AR platform rifle has been used for hunting for some time, due to its caliber limitations, it has been relegated to prairie dogs, some predators, and smaller light skinned big game like deer.

That all changed with the introduction of the WSSM® cartridges into the world of the AR15. With the 243 WSSM, 25 WSSM, and the newest 300 OSSM cartridge have taken the AR15 to a whole new level. With these true magnum calibers, the AR15 has now stepped up to be a honest big game rifle capable of taking just about any North American big game.

Where the AR15 was once a trust varmint rifle and deer getter, it is now taking big Mule Deer, Elk, Big Horn Sheep, Moose and Bear. Especially in the 300 OSSM caliber with ballistics surpassing the .30-06 (150 grain slug at 3,046 fps!) what North American big game would you not hunt? Some say none.

The reality is that the popularity of the AR15 is only going to continue to grow. As it does, and technology will advances along with it and we will see more and more adaptations of the AR for use in the field. With a .22-250 model to be released in 2011, we at Olympic Arms look forward to continuing to focus on our hunters and sportsmen out there who choose the AR15 as their rifle of choice.
